SAVE THE DAL

For every new government in Kashmir “Save the Dal” becomes top government priority, for the last five decades. Every Chief Minister orders urgent measures for protection of the Dal. Every new head of LAWDA on assuming office tours in his official speed boat to punish polluters. Every year the Dal continues to deteriorate some more. Skeptics have declared it a lost cause. It is not.
 
Save the Dal needs a shift in focus. Saving the Dal is not an engineering issue. Following two writings written in 2008 and 2009 suggest measures to bring back to life. The suggestions remain pertinent.
